Summary

The City of Sandersville, Georgia seeks applicants for the poition of Electric Director. Sandersville is located in middel Georgia, centrally located between Macon and Augusta, and Atlanta and Savannah. It is the county seat of Washington County with a population in excess of 5,000. We seek candidates who are flexible, well-organized, creative, inquisitive, resourceful, detail-oriented, ethical, and collaborative. The ability to prioritize and junggle multiple tasks in a dynamic environemnt while maintaining quality work products is essentail for success in this position. The Cadidate will have experience planning, directing, and supervising personnel, ensuring the timely and efficient completion of projects, and the completion of the annual budget for the Department. 

JOB SUMMARY

The Electric Director is responsible for directing the operations and management of the city's electric distriiibution system. The City serves approzimately 5,000 customers, utilizing 8 substations with a 200Mw system demand. The City operates approximately 12 miles of distribution at both 12kv and 25kv. 

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Plans and directs the organization and management of the electric distribution system
  • Determines transformer size, pole size, and wire size on a distrbution circuit
  • Determines appropriate meter form, current transformer size, and potential transforment application to employ
  • Directs and participates in line design, staking, engineering and site lighting functions
  • Obtains pricing and bids for electrical supplies; makes purchases
  • Obtains bids from contractors as needed; meets with and coordinates the work of contractors, consultants and developers
  • Attends meetings with City Manager, Mayor, City Council and other department heads
  • Plans and directs the operation, maintenance and installation of the fiber network 
  • Troubleshoots and resolves electric and telecommunications problems
  • Prepares budgets proposals and manages assigned funds
  • Performs related duties

MINIMUN QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a course of study or related field. Significant directly related work experience beyond the minimum requirements may be accepted in lieu of degree. 
  • Ten years of progressive utility experience is required, with experience in all areas of overhead and underground electric distributions systems. 
  • CDL preferred or readily to obtain
