The City of Fairburn is seeking an experienced, skilled professional that has extensive experience performing manual work functions associated with the construction, repair and maintenance of water, sewer, and storm water system in the City of Fairburn. The Utilities Maintenance Worker III is the advance, journey-level class in the Utilities Maintenance Worker series that performs the more complex duties required to ensure that City infrastructure, systems, and facilities to which assigned, are operated, and maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for public use. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, inspecting, and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the operation, maintenance and repair of assigned facilities and systems. The Utilities Maintenance Worker III at this level receives only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. The incumbent may be assigned as a Lead for a Utilities Maintenance Crew. This class is distinguished from the Water/ Sewer Superintendent in that the latter has responsibility for assigning and directing the work of staff and individually is capable of performing the most complex duties assigned to the division. The Utilities Maintenance Worker III have the primary focus on providing superior customer service to the citizens and customers of the City of Fairburn while handling a variety of water, sewer, and storm water issues. Hiring Range: Utility Maintenance Worker I $17.11 - $17.97 Hourly Rate (Depending on qualifications)
Hiring Range: Utility Maintenance Worker II $18.39 - $19.31 Hourly Rate (Depending on qualifications)

7:00 am 4:00pm; may be required to work the on call rotation schedule.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by six (6) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Licenses or Certifications:
Valid State of Georgia Class C driver’s license
Special Requirements:
Requires an acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check and an acceptable driving record. This position is deemed safety-sensitive and is subject to random alcohol and controlled substance testing.
Must have a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) as defined by City Personnel Policy
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is moderate work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Work requires regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an outdoor environment. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, toxic agents, disease, or pathogenic substances.
