City Manager 

City of McRae-Helena, Georgia 

City of McRae-Helena, Georgia, is seeking a collaborative and experienced municipal progessional to serve as its next City Manager.

Located in rural South Georgia, McRae-Helena (population - 6,000) offers a small-town quality of life, a strong sense of community, and convenient access to Macon, Savannah, and the Georiga coast. The city provides municipal services including water and sewer utilities, public works, planning and zoning, police services, and general administration, and serves as a regional hub for Telfair and Wheeler counties. 

The City operates under a council-manager form of government. The Mayor and City Council provide policy direction, while the City Manager serves as the chief administrative officer, overseeing day-to-day operations, supervising department heads, preparing and administering the budget, coordinating capital projects, managing grants, and acting as the primary liaison between elected officials, staff, residents, and external partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

         - Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field,  or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position

         - Knowledge of municipal operations, budgeting, personnel management, and policy implementation

         - Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Preferred: Experience in rural or small-city management, grant administration, and familiarity with programs such as LOST, SPLOST, LMIG, CDBG, and other state/federal funding programs. Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible municipal government or public administration experience.

Salary: Salary is negotiable and will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, credentials, and record of municipal leadership. Benefits include health insurance, GMA retirement, paid leave, and other City-provided benefits.
