Location: Cumming, GA
Salary: $81,966 – $108,605 annually
Job Type: Appointed, At-Will Position

Forsyth County Government is seeking a Deputy Director for the Voter Registrations & Elections Department. This leadership role helps manage daily operations, supervise staff, and coordinate election planning and execution while ensuring compliance with federal and state election laws. The Deputy Director serves as a key partner to the Director and represents the department with elected officials, the Board of Elections, the Secretary of State’s Office, and the public.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and oversee operations of the Voter Registrations & Elections Department

  • Coordinate early voting, Election Day logistics, polling locations, staffing, and equipment deployment

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local election laws and regulations

  • Maintain voter registration rolls and oversee election reporting and certification

  • Supervise staff, manage schedules, and support training of election personnel and poll workers

  • Assist with department budget development and monitoring

  • Respond to public inquiries, media requests, and open records requests

  • Represent the department in meetings with County leadership, Board of Elections, and external agencies

  • Serve as acting Director when needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field

  • Four years of experience in elections administration, voter registration, or related government operations

  • Supervisory and budget experience preferred

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Georgia Election Official Certification required within two years of hire

  • Notary Public license required within one month of hire

This is an appointed, at-will position serving at the discretion of the appointing officer and not covered under Civil Service provisions. Evening and weekend hours are required during election cycles.
