Water Treatment Plant Operator I, II, III or WTP Apprentice


Summary

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $32,136 - $71,070; starting salary is commensurate with experience, certification(s), & level for which the candidate is hired.

The City of Monroe is now accepting applications for the position of Water Treatment Plant Operator I, II, III or Water Treatment Plant Apprentice. These positions are responsible for supporting the operation of a water treatment plant, with duties ranging from assisting in daily operations to independently managing plant functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED; or equivalent combination or related training & experience
  • Possession of the appropriate state-cerified license for water or wastewater treatment or distribution
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment used as an Operator I, II, or III

Skills & Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of water treatment plant operations
  • Working knowledge of water distribution systems and their components
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and water quality testing methods\
  • Proficiency in the use of tools, equipment, and materials involved in the operation, repair, and maintenance of water treatment facilities & related infrastructure
  • Sufficient experience that demonstrates a solid understanding of the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position
  • Ability to obtain a Georgia Water Operator Class III  license & other licenses required for the assigned work activities associated with the position
