Fleet Maintenance Superintendent
City of Commerce, Georgia
The City of Commerce is seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Superintendent to lead all fleet operations, including vehicle and equipment maintenance, repairs, procurement, replacement planning, fuel system management, budgeting, and vendor coordination. This role also supports a working partnership with Commerce City Schools.
Responsibilities
• Oversee daily maintenance and repair of City vehicles, heavy equipment, and small engines.
• Manage department budget and inventory; order parts and supplies.
• Coordinate outsourced repairs and negotiate pricing.
• Maintain maintenance records and evaluate assets for replacement.
• Monitor the City’s fuel distribution system and ensure safety compliance.
• Perform equipment repairs and maintain fleet facilities.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Seven years of relevant fleet or equipment maintenance experience.
• Valid Georgia CDL Class A.
• Satisfactory motor vehicle report.
• ASE certification preferred.
Skills
• Strong knowledge of municipal vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to interpret City policies and understand local geography.
• Proficiency with heavy equipment, computers, work?order systems, and communication.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a mechanic shop environment with frequent standing, lifting 50–100 lbs, climbing, exposure to weather, machinery, and chemicals. Must meet vision, hearing, mobility, and dexterity requirements.
