This is a full-time position with benefits. This position is responsible for participating in the operation of a water treatment plant. An incumbent in this position may be designated “Class III Operator,” “Class II Operator,” or “Class I Operator.”
Major duties include but are not limited to:
1. Monitors the operation of tanks, pumps, backwash filters, and other equipment.
2. Pumps sludge and removes from drying beds.
3. Runs regular plant tests.
4. Makes chemical adjustments as needed.
5. Changes chlorine cylinders as needed.
6. Changes water flow.
7. Maintains plant and plant grounds.
8. Maintains accurate records and prepares reports.
9. Gathers, organizes, examines, and evaluates data and makes appropriate response.
10. Operates, maintains, and repairs machinery or experience.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain an appropriate state-certified license for water treatment.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Starting Salary - $43,462.11
