Job Summary:
This position is responsible for protecting lives and property endangered by fires and other emergency situations. This position also must be able to assist in providing a high level of basic emergency care to sick and/or injured patients of all ages within their certification level.
Major Duties:
· Administers first aid and Basic Life Support.
· Inspects assigned apparatus and equipment; cleans, repairs, and performs routine maintenance on same.
· Performs housekeeping, building maintenance, and groundskeeping duties.
· Participates in and assists with training sessions.
· Prepares incident reports, gas and vehicle maintenance logs, and other reports.
· Performs all pre-hospital patient care to their level of training.
· Performs daily inspections of apparatus, onboard supplies, equipment, and restocks after each call.
· Drives and controls an apparatus.
· Completes monthly educational requirements and training.
· Adheres to department-specific Infection Control guidelines.
· Exhibits an understanding of the Compliance Program and is willing to report compliance issues.
· Understands and demonstrates compliance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
· Comply with all Patient Safety Standards.
· Maintains department-specific safety issues.
· Use all departmental electronic/technology reporting and data scheduling software.
· Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
· Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
· Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Act within 6 months of hire.
· Georgia State of EMS Licensure is current and in good standing.
· Current CPR and NIMS compliant.
· Must be BLS and NIMS compliant.
· Possession of a valid Class F or B Georgia Driver's License.
· Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
The successful candidate must complete a Reference Check, Background Check, Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Physical prior to the start of employment.
