The Site Development Inspector plays a vital role in supporting the City’s growth and infrastructure development by ensuring private construction projects comply with approved plans, city specifications, applicable codes, and environmental regulations. This position conducts field inspections of development sites, monitors utility installations, and reviews development and construction plans to verify compliance and quality standards.
Serving as a key liaison between the City, contractors, developers, and regulatory agencies such as the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD), the inspector provides guidance on construction requirements and enforces erosion and sedimentation control standards. This includes issuing corrective actions or stop-work notices when necessary and maintaining detailed documentation to support enforcement and potential litigation.
This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret construction plans and specifications. Additionally, the role contributes to continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues and recommending enhancements to inspection processes. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to upholding the integrity and safety of the City’s development standards.

Requires an Associate or Technical Degree in building construction, construction technology, engineering, or related field plus one year of experience; or an equavalent combination of education and experience.
Requires additional specialized training for assigned department within one (1) year of employment.
Requires a GSWCC Level 1B Inspector - Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission within one (1) year of employment
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Work Location: 20 Interchange Court Work Hours: 7 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday
