Capital Projects Manager


Summary

Salary: $73,860.80 - $83,000.00 Annually

Description

The Capital Projects Manager manages capital improvement projects for the City of Statesboro.

Examples of Duties

 

  • Coordinates processes for bidding and contracting for services for TSPLOST funded and other capital improvement projects.
  • Develops plans, specifications, and cost estimates for proposed projects.
  • Prepares RFPs for engineering services, design services, construction services, inspection services, maintenance services, etc.
  • Coordinates and participates in project design and in the development of capital improvement project plans and specifications; ensures compliance with department goals and objectives and with applicable codes and ordinances; provides recommendations concerning improvements, modifications, design strategies, structural systems, or other aspects of project development to ensure projects are within approved budget schedule.
  • Coordinates and participates in the negotiation of easement and right-of-way acquisition; records applicable documents.
  • Prepares and solicits construction bid packages; conducts pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.
  • Participates in negotiations for scope of services and fees for professional service agreements; makes recommendations regarding the selection of vendors.
  • Manages projects during design and/or construction phases and monitors adherence to project schedules; conducts site inspections; conducts regular progress meetings; works with consultants, contractors, and work crews to resolve problems and initiate appropriate solutions; prepares, reviews, and processes change orders for changes to scope of work; reviews, verifies, and approves contract pay requests.
  • Conducts final inspections with contractors, city personnel, and outside consultants.
  • Maintains project files and records.
  • Coordinates and conducts public meetings related to proposed projects; prepares press releases; meets with citizens to resolve complaints and grievances regarding roadways, drainage systems, and city-owned facilities. 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related field;
  • One (1) year of experience in a related field; and
  • Valid State of Georgia Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three (3) or more years of engineering experience.
