OVERVIEW
This position reports to the Education & Exhibits Manager and is responsible for conducting guided educational programs, assisting with admissions and gift shop sales, coordinating rental reservations for private events held during business hours, supporting public programming, and other initiatives of the Education and Visitor Services teams.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. Other related duties may be required and assigned.
· Provide staff support for tours, education programs, and events. Deliver programs under the guidance of the Education and Program Coordinator.
· Assist visitors with ticket and retail sales.
· Assist with organizing and cataloging gift shop inventory.
· Coordinate with customers on rentals held in the Gardens during business hours through in-person meetings, phone calls and email. Serve as the main point of contact for all rentals held in the Gardens. Issue and process invoices for rentals.
· Promote Garden memberships. Assist with processing on-site membership payments, entering information into database, and mailing membership packets.
· Assist with public outreach programs and events for the Gardens.
· Answer phone calls, check voice messages and emails, and respond as appropriate.
· Keep visitor materials organized and stocked.
· Serve as a content expert on the story of Smith-Gilbert Gardens, providing information in the form of tours, talks, and introductions to visitors of the Gardens.
· Assist with data entry, general inquiries, and other guest experience information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates must possess proven experience in a customer service role, including but not limited to, retail, museums, gardens, education and be computer proficient. Employee will use Microsoft Office, Outlook, membership database and point-of-sale systems. A basic understanding of or interest in horticulture, history, and
education is a plus but not required for the position. A willingness to learn and present basic tour information for school students and adults is necessary. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituents, including visitors, group tours, and volunteers.
Schedule: This is a full-time position with a Tuesday-Saturday work schedule.
Salary$17.21/$35,796.80 to $26.68/$55,494.40 + DOQ (Non Exempt)
