Resource Coordinator

Location: Metter, Georgia

Reports To: City of Metter and Georgia Grown Resource Center Director, working closely with the MainStreet Metter and Downtown Development Authority Boards.

Position Overview

This position requires an energetic, organized, and community-minded professional to serve in a dynamic dual-role position supporting the Georgia Grown Resource Center and downtown development initiatives through Main Street Metter (MSM) and the Downtown Development Authority (DDA).

This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by supporting local agriculture, small businesses, downtown revitalization, tourism, and community engagement efforts. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with people, coordinating events and programs, and helping connect businesses, producers, and residents with valuable resources and opportunities.

The Coordinator will collaborate with local and regional partners including the Georgia Department of Agriculture, City of Metter staff, the Candler County Chamber of Commerce, the Industrial Development Authority, business owners, and community organizations to help strengthen Metter’s economic and community development efforts.

Primary Responsibilities

Georgia Grown Resource Center Duties

·         Welcoming and assisting farmers, producers, processors, and visitors seeking Georgia Grown services and information.

·         Work directly with the Georgia Grown Resource Center Director to support agricultural programming, workshops, educational outreach, and producer engagement initiatives.

·         Assist producers with certifications, market access opportunities, grants, training resources, and technical assistance.

·         Support agricultural education and outreach activities through workshops, resource navigation, and community partnerships.

·         Maintain records, reports, and data related to agricultural engagement and program participation.

·         Coordinate logistics for Georgia Grown events including scheduling, setup, materials, vendor coordination, registration, and event support.

·         Assist with promoting Georgia Grown initiatives through social media, communications, and marketing materials.

·         Work collaboratively with state and regional partners to share updates, resources, and promotional content.

·         Attend Georgia Grown and related meetings, workshops, and training opportunities as needed.

·         Ensure compliance with Georgia Grown Resource Center policies, procedures, and operational standards.

·         Be responsible for outreach to ensure the program is successful with community and regional participation.

Main Street Metter & Downtown Development Authority Duties

·         Support Main Street Metter and Downtown Development Authority initiatives focused on downtown revitalization and economic development.

·         Maintain regular communication with downtown businesses and provide support, encouragement, and resource referrals.

·         Assist prospective and existing business owners with information related to site selection, permitting, startup resources, and available incentives.

·         Help identify and promote grant opportunities, funding programs, and economic development resources.

·         Coordinate downtown events, promotions, seasonal activities, and community engagement programs that increase tourism and foot traffic.

·         Assist with planning and executing community events including vendor coordination, scheduling, setup, marketing, and cleanup.

·         Support efforts to recruit, retain, and promote downtown businesses and community partnerships.

·         Prepare reports, correspondence, meeting materials, and promotional content for downtown initiatives.

·         Coordinate meetings, schedules, volunteer activities, and communications for Main Street and DDA programs.

·         Assist with marketing efforts including social media, email campaigns, printed materials, and public outreach promoting downtown businesses and events.

·         Foster positive relationships with community stakeholders, partner organizations, local businesses, and residents.

Skills & Qualifications

·         Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business, Marketing, Public Administration, Community Development, or a related field preferred.

·         Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

·         Experience in event coordination, community engagement, marketing, agriculture, customer service, or administrative support preferred.

·         Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.

·         Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines.

·         Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and professional attitude.

·         Self-motivated, dependable, and community-oriented.

·         Valid driver’s license required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

·         Work is performed in office settings, community spaces, and event locations.

·         Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events and activities.

·         Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

·         Occasional evening and weekend work required for events, meetings, and programming.
