Tag Clerk/Property Specialist

The Office of the Putnam County Tax Commissioner is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Tag Clerk/Property Specialist.  In this position, the clerk will perform a variety of tasks, including processing motor vehicle and property ad valorem tax and tag transactions, process motor vehicle information requests, notify new property owners of tax policies, answer telephones, and assist call-in and walk-in customers. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

Duties: Process property tax billing transactions.

• Process title applications and other title paperwork.
• Process tag applications & renewals.
• Process voicemail contacts, answer telephones, and field public questions.
• Process motor vehicle information requests for law enforcement and law offices.
• Maintain new-owner property tax information, and mail Tax Brochures to them.
• Deliver updated information to the Tax Assessor’s office and deliver deposits to the bank.
• Perform other duties and functions of the tax/tag office.

Requirements:

• High school diploma.
• 2 years + customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to learn and use new software tools.
• Meticulous approach to tasks, goal-oriented high performer.
• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with office technology and equipment (including MS Office software).
• Strong task and time management skills.

This is a Full-Time position, and compensation will be based on qualifications, and the current county pay scale. 

This full-time position offers a benefit package that includes health/dental/vision insurance, and PTO (paid time off) and paid holidays.
